Cuomo Strikes Again

Cuomo quietly signed legislation in May 2020 shielding and granting immunity to hospitals and nursing homes from any lawsuits stemming from the coronavirus outbreak. Essentially, he just gave immunity to himself.

Consider if a family files a wrongful death suit against a nursing home that knowingly brought in an infected symptomatic COVID-19 patient into their facility, resulting in their family member's death. Any nursing home sued for wrongful death because they followed the governor’s March 25 mandate guidelines would file its lawsuit against New York State. So, by granting immunity to the nursing homes, he granted immunity to New York’s own health department’s mandate. That’s killer.
